You have a job résumé to offer potential employers. A rental résumé is very similar, and it’ll even contain some of the same information. Start with your name and contact information at the top of the email, followed by a detailed rental history with phone numbers for previous landlords. Follow this with contact information for your previous and current employers, salary history, and dates of employment. Next, list two references who are willing to give you a good recommendation. Bonus points if you attach a copy of your credit history and credit score. We’ll still have to do our own background checking-but your info will be a good starting off point for us.

Treat your walk-through like a job interview
We’re not kidding. Pretend like you’re interviewing for your dream job when you meet with a prospective landlord. Leave the sweatpants and flip flops at home where they belong, and put on a clean shirt. If you have a roommate or partner coming to the showing with you, make sure they get the memo. Lastly, be on time. In fact, it doesn’t hurt to be a little bit early. We love pulling up to a rental property and seeing a prospective tenant waiting outside with a big smile. As a rule of thumb, we do not wait on our tenants. Sounds harsh, I know, but we honestly don’t have to wait. The market is too fast paced and we receive a ton of applications for each property. We can be choosey at this stage in the long term rental game.
Communicate your strong interest
Renting in Breckenridge and Summit County-beyond is competitive territory. There are dozens of qualified tenants all vying for the same properties. Make yourself stand out by being clear about your desire to rent the home. Don’t be shy! Compliment the property and engage the landlord in light conversation about the history of the house and previous renters.
