The air is crisp, the leaves are crunchy and there are pumpkins literally everywhere. This can only mean one thing: October is here in all of its cozy glory! Though we’ve already seen the best of the autumn foliage, fall is far from being over. The rest of the month is jam packed with fun events that promise good times, great food and even better company. The festivities kick off this weekend, so throw on some warm layers and rally the troops. Your social calendar is going to be pretty packed with everything Breck has in store!
Fall Festival – October 15th
This Saturday, grab the kids for an afternoon of trick-or-treating at Breck’s annual Fall Festival. Your little ones will have a blast playing in the bouncy castles, trampolines and obstacle courses, getting their faces painted, decorating pumpkins and gorging on caramel apples. The event, held at the Riverwalk Center, is free to attend (score!) and any donations will directly benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center.
Craft Beer & Food Pairing – October 18th
On October 18th, make your way to downtown Breck for an evening of imbibing and indulging at the highly anticipated Craft Beer & Food Pairing event. For one night only, Breckenridge Brewery and Blue River Bistro have teamed up to create a carefully planned menu of seasonal beers and mouthwatering dishes to tantalize your taste buds. Think pear and cranberry braised pork belly, pecan roasted sweet potato pie and blackberry and date strudel – whoa. Are you drooling yet? Tickets are $75 and all proceeds will be donated to the National Repertory Orchestra.
Still on the Hill – October 21st – 23rd
Prefer whiskey to beer? There’s an event for you, too! Still on the Hill is back for another year of delicious craft spirit tastings, artisanal snacks and live music at the Riverwalk Center. Weekend highlights include a historic saloon tour, a Breckenridge haunted tour, shot glass decorating, and of course, a hangover brunch on Sunday with plenty of opportunities to catch the football game. You know you’re going to be hungry, so do yourself a favor and pick up a Breckenridge Dining Passport to save a few bucks on meals and late-night snacks at participating restaurants.
Dia de los Muertos Face Painting – October 22nd
Next weekend, Leah Reddell and Alison Kenyon bring their artistic talents to Breckenridge for a festive weekend of extreme face painting. What makes it so “extreme?” Picture Tim Burton characters – in real life. We’re talking full-face designs with elaborate skulls, masks and flowers. Dia de los Muertos Face Painting is first come, first served and is open to adults and children. The activity is part of a three-day Dia de los Muertos celebration that features a variety of classes and family fun. You don’t want to miss this one!
