28 Feb 4 Reasons to Stay in Breck Over Spring Break
Ah, spring break. While some locals use their vacation days to escape the cold weather in search of tropical territory, we relish this time of year in Breckenridge. During the months of March and April, Breck comes alive with warm sunshine, great late-season snow conditions, and a series of parties, concerts, festivals, competitions, and other events you won’t find anywhere else.
As in years past, Breckenridge Ski Resort has planned another incredible month-long lineup of activities to wrap up the 2016-2017 ski season. The annual “Spring Fever” festival is one of the biggest spring parties in the Rocky Mountains, and we can’t wait to see the festivities kick off. To get you excited about what’s to come, we rounded up a handful of events we’re looking forward to this season. We hope you’ll stick around and enjoy them with us!
GoPro Big Mountain Challenge
When: March 18 – 20, 2017
The first big event of the Spring Fever festival is the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge. For the fourth year in a row, youth athletes from across the region will conquer the extreme terrain of Peak 6 in what’s sure to be an adrenaline pumping display for all. This is a spectator friendly event – join us at Peak 6 to watch some of the best big mountain freeriders compete for points in the IFSA series.
Breck Chili Cook Off
When: April 2, 2017
Is there anything better than warming up with a hot bowl of chili after a cold day on the mountain? Thaw your frozen toes at Sevens Restaurant at the base of Peak 7 with as much chili as you can eat, and don’t forget to vote for your favorite recipe. The top chefs from Breckenridge Ski Resort and Breck Hospitality will face off to see who can make the best pot of spicy, beefy stew.
Breckenridge Spring Fever Beer Festival
When: April 8, 2017
Colorado is known for fantastic beer, and we’ll take any excuse to celebrate it. The Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival offers a great opportunity to taste brews from over 35 breweries while noshing on food from local vendors. It’s all happening on Ridge Street in downtown Breck against a stunning backdrop of the mountains. Buy a VIP ticket to take home a 12 oz. glass collector’s mug and gain exclusive access to a heated tent with private bathrooms (you’ll thank us later).
Easter Egg Hunt on the Mountain
When: April 16, 2017
The Easter bunny is at it again! With a basket full of plastic eggs, everyone’s favorite floppy-eared hero will send kids on a wild goose chase on Peaks 8 and 9. A protected area will be monitored for the little ones to safely hunt for their treasures before getting the ski day started. May we suggest brunch afterwards? Call around to your favorite spots to book a reservation early!

If you thought you loved Breckenridge in the winter, just wait until you experience it in the spring. Whether you’re on the mountain or in town, there are endless opportunities for enjoying the best of what Summit County has to offer at the Spring Fever festival and beyond.
