16 Mar Plan Your Breck Spring Break Staycation
Breckenridge has always been known as an ideal spring break destination. For better or for worse, our Summit County community has become popular with all kinds of visitors. We have everyone from the college kids looking to spend money and get rowdy to the families from Oklahoma and Texas enjoying the snow while the kids are out of school for a week. While many locals road trip to Moab or jet off to Mexico to escape the tourists this time of year, settling in for a spring break staycation can be just as relaxing. After a long winter, it’s refreshing to explore sunny Breckenridge with renewed appreciation. Here are some fun ways to step outside your regular routine and be a tourist in your own town this month:
Plan Your Spring Break Staycation
Take a happy hour tour
If you’re like us, your idea of spring break no longer involves doing shotskis and partying until last call at Cecilia’s. Consider gathering a group of friends and visiting a different happy hour each night of the week. Modis has one of the best roof decks in town. Put Southridge Seafood and Kenosha on your list, too. While you’re out, get all the kids together for movies, crafts, and pizza. Everyone can pitch in for a babysitter for the week!
Book a spa treatment
Are your muscles tight and sore after a weekend on the mountain? Treat yourself to a relaxing massage and feel the tension melt away. There are plenty of options for pampering yourself right on Main Street. Or, elevate your spring break staycation with a facial, body wrap, or full-day spa package at The Spa at Breckenridge. Be sure to check Groupon for special deals before making an appointment.
Take a sunrise hike
Soak in the quiet, natural beauty of Breckenridge before the spring breakers wake up and descend on the mountain. Boreas Pass has a low incline and is a great packed out trail to explore in spring. It hikes all the way up to the peaks on the other side of town and rewards with a stunning view of the surrounding mountain scenery. We also recommend Illinois Creek Trail; it starts at the bottom of the ice skating rink parking lot. This hidden path offers a moderately challenging, scenic hike through the trees. Dress warmly!
Splash at Breckenridge Recreation Center
You don’t need a beach to have some aquatic fun on your spring break staycation. Soaking in the pools and spas at Breckenridge Recreation Center is a fun way to unwind with the entire family. The leisure pool has a two-story slide for kids (and adults who like to pretend they’re kids). A lazy river, basketball hoop, lap pool, mini rock-climbing wall, rope swing, and log rolling offer something for everyone. Plus, adults and teens age 16 and older can enjoy the indoor and outdoor spas, steam room, and sauna. Check the current pool schedule for pool, spa, sauna, and steam room hours.
How will you spend your Breck spring break staycation?
Breckenridge might be a popular spring break destination, but that doesn’t mean you have to take off during the busy season. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the Rockies without being swarmed by tourists. Whether your idea of fun includes sipping a glass of wine and gazing at the mountains or hiking to the top of one, use your spring break staycation as an excuse to get to know a new side of the town you call “home.”
If life is taking you away from Breckenridge, now is also a great time to squeeze in those last few memories before putting your home on the market. When you’re ready, give the luxury realtors at Dwell Summit a call. We’d be honored to find a qualified buyer for your property that will appreciate your home as much as you have. We look forward to connecting when the time is right!
