24 Aug Breckenridge Hogfest – Bacon & Bourbon
One of the things we love most about living in Summit County is that our calendar is constantly packed with food festivals. Breckenridge Wine Festival was last month, and Breckenridge Oktoberfest is coming up in September. Heck, we already have the Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco penciled in for Father’s Day weekend next year. Another great foodie event we’re gearing up for is happening this Saturday, and it celebrates all things bacon and bourbon: Breckenridge Hogfest.
When: August 26, 2017; 2pm – 6pm
Where: Main Street Station and The Village at Breckenridge
Cost: $15 – $125
It’s not a secret that bacon has become super trendy in recent years. Once a mere breakfast food, bacon is now showing up everywhere from dessert tables to hors d’oeuvres platters. You can get indulgent with your bacon (sprinkle it on a donut) or attempt to be healthy (wrap it around asparagus). No matter how you look at it, bacon is having a moment, and Breckenridge Hogfest is set on celebrating.
Because bacon is only as good as what you pair it with (i.e. donuts, asparagus) Breckenridge Hogfest has partnered up with Old Forester to add a splash of bourbon to your palate. Old Forester has been making bourbon since 1870 and legally outsmarted prohibition. How savvy is that? At Breckenridge Hogfest, you’ll be able to taste your way through a spectrum of pork samples, premium whiskeys, and barrel-aged spirits. Live music will set the tone for what’s sure to be an indulgent afternoon.
Piggy Back | $15
If you’re more about bacon and less about bourbon, this is the package for you. The Piggy Back option gives you access to five pork sample dishes or Tender Belly Bacon tastings. Other festival food is not included but is available a la carte.
